Mozart / Leonard Bernstein, 1967: Piano Concerto, K. 450 - Complete

Enviado por em 30/01/2011

Forty-eight year old Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) is soloist, and conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in this 1966 performance of Mozart's 15th piano concerto in B flat, K. 450. Bernstein recorded with Columbia Masterworks Records almost exclusively starting in the 1950s; this particular performance, on the Decca label, is one of only three known recordings (the other two being Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique (1976) for EMI, and Wagner's Tristan und Isolde (1981) for Philips) that Bernstein did not record with Columbia. (The front of the LP jacket makes it clear that Bernstein is appearing for Decca "courtesy of CBS records.) Bernstein's later, post-1976 recordings, were mostly made for Deutsche Grammophon.

1. Allegro
2. Andante (11:03)
3. Allegro (18:31)

All images, with the exception of those of Mozart and those of the coda from the score at the end of this video, were taken from the LP label and jacket.

(Note: Last year I had uploaded this performance in three segments. I have received numerous requests to upload it as a single video, which I am now able to do thanks to YouTube's extension of time limits.)
